What is Web Hosting?
Web hosting is the act of renting space and bandwidth through a company so that you may publish your web site online.   You can either opt for free hosting that is usually supported with banners and pop ups, or may opt to get paid web hosting, which gives you complete control over your site contents.
What is Virtual Hosting?
Also known as shared hosting, this form of web hosting should suffice for most everyone. Virtual hosting simply refers to the fact that your site is on one server, and that this server hosts mulitple sites. You are virtually shared - your site will not be the only one on this specific server. Very few sites would actually need the power of a dedicated server, so this option provides to be a reliable and cheap solution.
What exactly is space and bandwidth/data transfer?
Diskspace is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space. Bandwidth/Transfer is the amount of data the server will allow your site to send in a month. Transfer is usually measured in gigabytes - billions of bytes. Once you go over your monthly limit, a host may either shut your site down for the remainder of the month or it can charge you 'overage.' This overcharge is usually about $2.00-$5.00 per extra gigabyte of transfer.
What is SEO?
SEO is abbreviated for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of optimizing a website in order to achieve traffic from search engines.
Why don't I just go with the cheapest hosting?
At times you will come across deals that are almost too good to be true - cheap web hosting with amazing features! There are hosts that while offering cheap prices do back that up with excellent performance and service, but there are things to be noted: Look very closely to what is written in their terms of service (TOS) and acceptable use policy (AUP) documents. Some hosts try to limit the activity of the customer through these two. Unlimited bandwidth or space. As explained on our scams page, offering either of those two as unlimited is not possible. The quality of bandwidth and the overall performance. Some hosts scrimp on these to give you cheaper prices. Do a self test - visit the host's website multiple times in a day to see that it remains fast loading. In general, Windows Hosting is more expensive than Unix hosting. Test out the support, and take a look over the online documentation. If you are paying less than $10 a month (which is roughly 30 cents a day), do not expect to receive an answer right after email the host. Many hosts now offer flash tutorials online which can be an excellent way to learn how a feature works. Do some research - visit google.com and WebHostingTalk and look up feedback on a host. Just because a host is cheap does not mean that you will receive 'cheap' service, but you must be careful.

How long have you been in business?
Our parent company has been in business since 1990 and Brain Objects was created in 1998. Our companies hosting solutions grew out of the understanding that hosting can be done better.  Feel free to let us know how we are doing.  We are not perfect, but we will try to do one better when we make a mistake.
What is Data Transfer / Bandwidth?
Bandwidth refers to the amount of data that is allowed to be transfered to and from our servers. Our plans are designed to have more than enough bandwidth than a normal website would need so that you do not need to be concerned about running out of bandwidth or 'overage charges' that other webhosting companies charge.  If you are still concerned about the bandwidth limits, consider this, if this page were viewed by 50,000 visitors, it would only use .024GB of your bandwidth. Clearly, this means that you will never have to worry about running out of bandwidth again as all of our plans are designed specifically to accommodate your needs.   Rest easy knowing that at Brain-Objects.net Hosted bandwidth concerns and 'overage charges' are a thing of the past.
What is Web Space?
This indicates the amount of disk space that will be available to you on the server to hold your web site files.
What if I need more pages? What is the cost?
You may add additional pages at any time during and or after the design process is complete. Our design team is here to build you a website to fit your exact needs and specifications. The cost for extra pages added on to one of our designs is $80 per page. If you have an existing website that you are looking to add on to let us know and a dedicated project manager will get in touch with you to determine your specific needs and provide you with a quote.
What does unlimited FTP accounts mean?
You can create a certain number of FTP user accounts on any of our Linux hosting accounts (depended on the plan). Each FTP user can have separate access information. Because of this great feature you could offer small hosting services to mini websites that do not need their own domain name. Once you order a hosting account at IX Web Hosting, simply login to your control panel and start creating FTP users.   Detailed information on FTP set-up can be obtained at:
